Newbury - Ryan Review
This Nando's is located in Kennet Shopping Centre with a Vue cinema next to it. The Kennet is very well signposted by road, so easy to find. The evening rate on the day I went was FREE so not sure how much it normally costs. It does look like you can get your parking validated from a number of retailers inside though. I also saw a pedestrian sign for Newbury train station being only half a mile away - so close for that too.
Arrived here at about 7:45pm and, although there were at least 5 tables free at the front, there was a quoted wait of 30 minutes - which turned out to be 15 minutes. These five tables or so stayed free for the entire duration of my visit, even though the queue just got longer and longer (at one point I heard 45 minutes quoted to a party of six).
It's a good sized branch with a mixture of benches and tables/chairs at the front by the counter and booths and tables/chairs towards the back.
The ceiling is pretty much just two giant circular wicker panels separated by a highly decorative pillar, made up of brightly mosaic pieces. Another pillar is right at the back.
Suspended from the wicker panel at the front are three bright red paper-style lanterns along with other copper orbs. From the back wicker panel are a couple dozen multi-coloured lights which I'm pretty sure are jam jars. Very clean throughout. It only gets a 4 as there could have been plenty more on the wall space and also the tables/chairs in the front half were tightly packed together.
The food took 13 minutes to come and was spectacular. A huge breast and wing with lots of meat on them both. Cooked and marinaded to perfection. A huge portion of chips and rice - both hot and tasty. A big portion of olives to suit as well.
The staff did the bear minimum, seeing as it was busy.
