Slough - Queensmere - Marc Joss Review
Now that this branch has been visited, we are only 15 reviews away from completing the UK mission! This trip down to Slough took place on a fine Sunday afternoon and the drive from North London was traffic free, it took around 40 minutes which isn't too bad. Parking in the Queensmere shopping centre is reasonably priced and numerous other outlets and restaurants can be found here. The only problem is that Nando's is not currently on the map and we struggled to find it initially as we walked through the modern shopping centre hoping to find it by chance especially as the passers by who we asked seemed rather clueless.
We were rather relieved on finally finding the branch and were pleased to have our choice of seating as the branch was at a quarter capacity (as an estimate). We chose a table right by the double doors which opened out to the street and there were 5 or 6 tables outside too.
On ordering, we engaged in a rather insightful Nando's related conversation with Manager Jon which meant that our food ended up being at our table before us! We made some interesting discoveries about the Nando's Halal philosophy (this branch will never allow non Halal meat inside even if Nando's develops new menu items which do not meet Halal criteria and all chickens come from a Halal supplier) as well as a discussion of Nando's on a global scale.
In terms of the food, I would say my half chicken and large chips met my requirements. I was completely satisfied on completion although the chicken could have been slightly more tender in places.
This branch was opened in late 2010 and you can see some modern touches and it has the feel of a relatively new branch. One particularly eye catching piece of decor was the collection of Nando's sauce bottles hanging from a structure on the wall which wasn't dissimilar from a set of coat pegs.
All in all, a very good Nando's and we look forward to hearing from Slough Queensmere in the near future!
