Southampton - West Quay Leisure - Ryan Review
Stopped into this Nando's late afternoon... and got up to the Food Court inside the West Quay Shopping Centre before I realised I'd been there before and was in the wrong Nando's... The new Nando's is outside of the West quay Shopping Centre in a new extension - just go to the big M&S and the entrance to get into the new Nando's is there. Use the post code SO15 1QF as the new one isn't recognised by Google yet. There's parking in the biggest two car parks: Podium Car Park £3/up to 2hrs, £4/3hrs, £5/4hrs and £10/4+hrs and £2 evening (after 5pm) or Multi-storey Car Park £2.50/2hrs, £3.50/3hrs, £4.20/4hrs and £5/4+hrs with a £1 evening charge (after 5pm). Otherwise if you want to spend something in IKEA, you get free parking in there or head for the short stay which (if you can get space) is free/30mins, £1/1hr, £2/2hrs and up from there and is just a very short walk to the new Nando's. Southampton Central train station is also half a mile walk away.
Arrived here around 3pm and there were only a few tables in use. As it's inside a centre, it's very open plan with a lack of wall space - meaning there isn't much to shout about on the decor front. Just lots of different shaped wire frames as lightshades (which were probably picked up from IKEA). The toilets were very clean with two terracotta style basins. Very clean, but nothing of interest, especially as it's so new.
Being very quiet, the food came very quickly in just over five minutes. I went for the grilled chicken breast burger and it was a bit of let-down. The chicken breast was laid on the burger going width-ways - but it still didn't creep over the sides of the burger, as it was really rather small - and thin... and quite dry with barely any marinade or sauce on it. The chip portion was plentiful and they were hot and crispy... but the chicken burger must have been a kids portion...
Staff were friendly enough but doing as expected.
